The Pravarsen Shikshan Santha, Nagpur was established formerly known as P.S.S. Arts and Commerce College, in Pauni, Dist. Bhandara by the severe attempts and hard works of Dr. L.D.Balkhande Sir (Founder Secretary) in 1983. The college has been renamed as Dr. L.D. Balkhande College of Arts & Commerce, Pauni in 2015. At the beginning stage, there was not a single senior college in Pauni. In such critical situation, Dr. L.D. Balkhande sir has done the herculean task to establish the Senior College in the remote area and tried to develop the minds of the youths with education. In consequently, a number of boys & girls got a chance to take education and flourish their own future. In short, this small plant of education turns into a huge shape of Tree.

The college faced a lot of problems and difficulties at the initial stage but with the great efforts of our patron late Dr. L. D. Balkhande Sir, made it easy to progress further. At the beginning, the college was not having its own building; in such critical condition Sir has started the college in Shri Mundle's building on rent. The college has, initially, started with three faculties i.e. Arts, Science and Commerce but due to technical problems Science faculty has to be closed by the college. Before the opening of the college in Pauni, a number of boys & girls visited to their higher education to Brahmapuri, Bhandara, Chandrapur and Nagpur. But it was not affordable to the poor and backward sections of the society to take admission in above cities. Especially, Girls students would not allowed to go outside for their higher education. Hence, they to leave their higher education in the middle. Therefore, Sir knew the fact and made it more convenient for girls students to take their higher education in Pauni. The establishment of P.S.S. College in Pauni makes it easy to build-up the educational standard and overall personality of the students. The college is in process of progress right from the beginning to up till now. The college has the highly qualified, well experienced teaching and non-teaching staff.

Shri. Milind L. Balkhande sir is the new secretary of the Institution, and with the great efforts of Milind sir, the new college building was set up in 2009. The college, presently, has to take turn towards well progress, flourishment and development and this would be done only by the whole-heartedly co-operative management of Shri. Milind L. Balkhande Sir, and Dr. Deepa Milind Balkhande Madam, President of our Institution. At present, the college is fully equipped with, good class-rooms, computer lab, ICT room, Common rooms for boys and girls, mesmerized play ground, Sports Department and N.S.S. Department. The college has a sound Library with internet and Wi-Fi facilities. Also, the common Reading section for the Staff and students is arranged in the Library. The college is continuously working for the students educational, social, cultural, intellectual and overall development of their personality. The college has started Remedial/Tutorial Classes, Career Guidance Programmes, Medical check-up programmes for the developments of the students. As a result, most of the college students secured the jobs in Govt. & Non-Govt. Institutions. In short, the college pays a full attention towards the students employment. The college is in plan to establish the Professional Courses like L.L.B., Nursing courses, ITI based courses on self-employment and has a foresight of its fulfillment. The college is, also, in plan to provide the Hostel facilities for the poor student's of the remote areas and is in commitment to provide the Staff quarter facility in Pauni. The ultimate aim of the Institution is to promote a good education & uplift the educational standard of the students.
